The 2005 Leadership grants sprang from a 2004 strategic planning session by the former board of the Kenney Foundation: Jim Owens, Mary Peterson, Humphrey Wou, Denise Fort, Lani Shaw, and Jay Kenney. Their dedication, vision, and wisdom during a time of great transition is gratefully acknowledged. In early 2005 General Service Foundation (GSF) partnered with Kenney Foundation as a way to recognize and support established and emerging leaders in western water work and to give them multi-year funding with few restrictions on the scope of their work. The foundation is extremely grateful to the following for their extraordinary efforts in advising us and recommending the recipients of the leadership grants: Lani Shaw (GSF); Zoe Estrin (GSF Trustee); Renee Fazzari (AC Corrdinator and GSF); Keiki Kehoe (facilitator); David Bayles (Pacific Rivers Council); Enei Begaye (Indigenous Environmental Network); Cathy Carlson (Center for the Wild West); Mike Clark (Trout Unlimited); Janet Cohen (Community Action Partners); Torri Estrada (Water Funders Alliance, Environmental Justice Solutions); Norty Kalishman (McCune Foundation); Katherine Lusher (River Network); and Jim Martin (Western Resource Advocates). In recognition of their willingness to help us make the 2005 Leadership Grants, Kenney Foundation made grants to charitable organizations suggested by the advisory committee members. A new advisory council will be solicited in 2007. Please do not contact the advisory committee members for information about the Kenney Foundation. Questions should be directed to the Foundation.
